Caught a swarm.....

Neighbours wife came by today at noon, her husband called her to ask her to come over and tell me there was a swarm of bees near his office in town. So I geared up, went to town, and the swarm was sitting on the bottom of a Japanese maple bush. Easy capture, lay on my back, lift up the box, and push them in.
I've hived them and we'll see how they do.

Chickens...

So we now have chickens, 3 Delaware hens and 2 Americana hens. One of the Delawares is only 1 yr old, the other are 2 years old. The Americanas are both 2 years old.

We built a 4'x8' coop on some shaky stilts for them. That will need to be addressed.

Too hot!

Hot weather this week, changed priorities. I installed some Gila window heat films on the office and dining area in at attempt to cool those rooms down from the constant sun exposure. Not to hard to do once you get the hang of it. We'll see how it keeps things.
