New Project: Battery Bank

I want to build a small battery bank in the workshop that will power the fridge/freezer for a few days enough to keep them cold and the food in them good. I can also use this to power my work computers so I can work if needed.

I'll charge the batteries with a charge controller plugged into the wall that will keep the batteries topped off all the time. In case the power goes out and I need to charge the batteries, I'll charge them from the truck engine. It's a generator after all.

I'll be using notes/instructions created by Steven Harris. He's an alternate energy engineer and I really respect him and his knowledge.

I also want to have an inverter that can cool the fridge/freezer when needed.

Shed update

Well, after a bit of a hiatus, I've started working on the shed again.

I just installed the wood laminate flooring today. Looks nice.

My list to do now:

• put a baseboard on
• put weather stripping on the inside of the door
• put up protective screen on the window
• put insulation on the  ceiling
• level off stump step

Also a quick note, NO LEAKS!! (so far)..

Quick update on projects

Bees: Just checked them out, they are no longer pissed at me, just irritated as normal. I put the queen excluder back under the honey super. I don't see any sign she has been up there, just lots of nectar in cells. And lots of drones, which means the drones will be caught in the super. I might try to move them out later. Not sure on that.

Shed: Few small updates, I bought some used wood strip flooring from Habitat for Humanity's Re-Store, will start putting that down this weekend.

• put up rain gutter on front
• put up screen on the window
• put up screen on the bottom to keep creatures from going underneath
• level off stump step

Getting there! I might put drywall under the attic to give it a more finished look.

Today I want to get the power done so I can start putting the insulation in.

• patch up any holes in the outside caulking

• put up a screen on the window

Quick update:

• the door is on, the locking hardware is installed
• all trim/floor boards have the first coat of primer on it
• the outside walls has 2 coats of blue paint
• trim for window installed
• roof flashing installed
• roof tar paper installed
• roof shingles started
• air vents installed

The new shed has been started.
The floor is done, as as of last night, the walls are built and up. And of course it rained last night after not raining for a few days....

The completed floor. I did put 2mil plastic below the plywood over some insulation.

I've decided to tear down the old pole shed that is next to useless and replace it with a shed that will useful as a storage area and as an office if needed.This will involve safely tearing down the old pole shed(removing the roof and unbolting all the poles), then building the new shed. Lots of work. Sounds like a lot of fun to me.
Any left over poles will be used to make a better firewood shed and build some raised garden beds.

The new shed. It is a Costco type that I found on craigslist. It's 10' x 8'. I know it's a pre-cut shed, but I want to make it more useable as an office so I will add extra studs, insulation, drywall, and paint.
