Well, fall is here, but the bees are still working. I pulled off the top medium, now down to 4 mediums. I moved teh partially drawn frames into the middle of the 4th box and removed another frame of honey.
Right now the top box has partially drawn frames in all 9 frames. The bees are still working, I still see them bringing in golden pollen. So I am hoping they will cap those partially drawn frames so I can remove the 4th medium.
I'll be moving the hive to the cover of the open front garage to protect them from wind/rain/snow and I'm considering setting up a small electric fency to protect them from bears. I DO NOT want to loose this hive to a bear, they have been stellar bees.
