Cottonwood snow has started

Well, cottonwood fuzz season started around 5/24/23. Ugh, time for my allergies to go crazy.

2023/04/07

Allergy season started

Allergy season has started, trees are blooming, nothing obvious yet, but as of yesterday, my nose is running like a faucet and kicking in my gag reflex when I try to breath and it's hard to do so.. argh!!!

2022/06/23

Grass season has started!

Grass season has started. I feel like crap today, watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, itchy/sore throat. Going to coast tomorrow night.

2022/06/15

Cottonwood almost over, grass when?

The cottonwood storm is mostly over, grass should be pollinating soon, but due to all the rain we are getting, the pollen is being washed away or delayed. Which is good for my allergies.

But I expect they will come back with a vengeance soon.

We'll see what happens. The weather this year is crazy.

Cottonwood season has started!

The cottonwood fluff is flying.. Time for my nose to start running..

2021/05/13

Allergy season started

Well, nose getting stuffy, sneezing outside, cotton wood seeds starting to appear in the air..

Glad I have PB to go to so I can clear my nose when its really bad.

Allergies wave 3ish

Well, queen anne's lace season started about 2 weeks ago., but it is not as bad as previous years. I've cut down my allegra meds from 2 to 1 pill a day.
So that is good allergy news for once.

2020/06/05

2nd wave of allergies

Allergen update:
  • Cottonwood almost done, thank goodness.
  • Other things are blooming and my nose is running like a hose and my skin itches. Amazing I have any brains left after sneezing so much.
  • I wish B's coast place was done, i'd go there for a week.

Cottonwood...

I was out digging today and noticed fluff wafting thru the air..
Cottonwood season is upon us!! Run! Get your masks and allergy pills!!!

Allergies starting

Well, my nose has been getting more and more congested, today it started running. Allergy season is here.. Damn.

2020/04/20

Updates...

So the local wildlife have been busy, we are down to 5 chickens, though I think there might be one that is roosting accross the street in the trees. I count 6 chickens every so often.

Allergies are starting back up, ugh. I hate this time of year.

Cleared out the bee yard, might see if I can get a nuk hive from that lady in Roy, WA.

All at home due to Covid-19.

That is all.

2019/06/28

3rd wave of allergies

Cotton wood: done
Grasses: done
St Anne's lace: starting..

The 1st wave of cottonwood and early flowers is nearly done. But now its time for the 2nd wave, grasses!

Ugh my nose hates me.

2019/05/24

2019/05/06

Fun times ahead.. NOT.

2018/07/16

Allergy update

Something has started blooming, my allergies are going crazy, my nose is running like a river and my head feels like it is filled with marshmellows.

Looks like it's Queen Anne's lace blooming time again.

2018/05/21

Allergy season has officially started

The cottonwood storms started on May 20th. We have nice drifts of cottonwood fluff floating all over and making white fluffy areas on the lawn...
Lovely. I'm glad I have some prescribed allergy meds this year...

Allergies... wave 2

Allergies kicking back up. L says the Queen Annes Lace is blooming.. ugh..
Meds to the rescue!

2017/06/12

Allergy update

As the grass has stooped pollinating and gone to seed (and dried out), my allergies have gone back down to normal.
I've been taking:
  • 2x allegra
  • 1x flonase in the am. flonanse used to make my nose bleed, but it seems I can handle 1 squirt a day now w/o any adverse affects. good.
  • generic pink antihistamines when i get a face full of pollen
L bought me a pair of light weight summer hiking shirts I've been wearing since if I let a grass head with pollen on it hit my arm, my arm gets a red mark where it hit, like a whip lash and it itches!!

At least it's better now. whew..

Assorted notes

Some assorted updates:

  • The broody moran is trying it again. She got so close. We'll see if she can pull it off now.
  • We are not going to not replace hens as they pass on since right now L cannot eat the eggs. I'll get new feed and see if that helps with L's egg problem.
  • Allergies have started up hard. Cottonwood is fuzzing out.
  • Fleas have risen in population, I setup the flea lights to trap and starve the little suckers.
  • Bees:
    • Ed's hive: added 3rd and 4th box, queen excluder between 3&4. He has: 1 deep, 2 mediums, exclude, 1 medium.
    • Our hive: added 3rd medium, need to deal with the damn ants that are putting eggs under the covers.
  • Looks like all the trees/bushes we bought are budding. The mulberry bush was the latest, we thought it was dead, but it finally started.
