Sad Day for the bees

I burned 4 boxes worth of frames yesterday and reduced the boxes to kindling. In total 30 deep frames and 10 medium frames.

The drawn foundation was just covered with mold of all sorts of colors and fuzziness. I removed and threw away the foundation, I thought about bleaching the frames, but decided I did not want to risk a colony on mold. So I had a nice little campfire in my backyard. The frames burned quite nice.

I also broke the deeps down since they had mold all over the insides. I will use them for kindling for fires.

I bleached the inner covers and bottom boards. I'll check and see what the cost is to get new ones..

Instead of using deeps, I am going to use only mediums, easier to carry when full, and I dont have to worry about storing extra deeps/medium boxes if all I use is mediums. I also want to build a top bar hive and see how that works.
