Homemade cleaning products

Last week I made some home home-made dishwasher detergent and laundry soap.
Quite easy to do, see the recipes below.

I've been using the dishwasher soap daily and the dishes are clean w/o a film as long as I only use 1 cap full and don't fill up detergent area.

I've done my first 2 loads of laundry with the laundry soap, I'll be interested how the clothes 'wear' after this.

Dishwasher Detergent
Ingredients:
Mix equal measures of Borax and Washing Soda.

Directions:
Use instead of Cascade. Only use 1 teaspoon per load of dishes. I have
had great success with this and no residue. Note: If you need a rinsing agent, you can add one part TSP (trisodium phosphate) to the mix. Use 1 1⁄2 tsp. Per load with the TSP added



Laundry Detergent
Ingredients:
1/2 bar of Fels Naptha soap (grated fine)
1/2c Arm & Hammer washing soda
1/2c 20 Mule Team Borax
8 quarts HOT water

Grate bar soap as fine as you can. Put grated soap, Borax, and soda in a bucket and add the hot water. Let it sit for a short time till all the soap dissolves, mix thoroughly, and put in containers. We only use a tablespoon of this for regular loads, but add more for heavily soiled clothes. This stuff will tend to clump up a bit when sitting, but just shake your bottle or container before use to remix it.

I found that I needed to heat the grated soap in hot water until it was fully melted, then add it to the rest of the ingredients and mix it up good.
I uses about 1/4 cup, I'm testing how much to use.
